Firefighters from the 2nd Battalion were kept busy Sunday Morning when a fire broke out in a house in the cities Oak Hill section. Battalion 2 arrived on scene and reported fire showing from side alpha of a two-story town house. Crews from Engine 6 and Tower Ladder 2 went to work attacking the fire and preforming searches and venting. Other arriving companies were placed into operation checking for extension, placing ground ladders, and preforming secondary searches. Firefighters made a quick knock down and held the fire to the original town house with little extension. Crews cleared with-in one hour. The fire has been determined to be electrical in origin.

Firefighters were dispatched early Friday Morning to a retail store for the report of a Commercial Fire Alarm. Firefighters from Engines 11, 10, 13, Squad 33, Ladder 4, and Battalions 3 and 1 responded to the alarm. Engine 11 arrived on scene and reported nothing showing and were informed that the store had been evacuated of the holiday shoppers. The mob of people was being held back by New Brickton Police offices while the fire department began their investigation of the structure. Firefighters located a male in the store with a buggy shopping, upon further questioning they found out that the man had pulled the fire alarm in order to beat the other shoppers the hot holiday items. Firefighters escorted the man from the store where he was placed under arrest by the NBPD and is being charged.

New Brickton Firefighters were dispatched on Thanksgiving Day to the report of a house fire in the Cherry Hill Section of the City. Upon arrival Engine 7 reported fire showing from the basement on side alpha and delta with serious exposure problems on side delta. Battalion 1 arrived and assumed command and began assigning crews to begin fire attack on the exposure and venting the building. Firefighters had to evacuate the original fire building due to unsafe conditions and placed Tower 1's master stream into operation. Both houses suffered heavy fire, smoke, and water damage. Fire crews cleared the scene around 2PM, the cause of the blaze was the residents frying a turkey in the basment of their house and the grease overflowed causing the fire.

New Brickton Firefighters were dispatched to 1801 Canal Street for a report of a house fire. Fire crews arrived to find a two-story set of brick row houses with fire showing from side alpha at the end of the row. Firefighters quickly began to stretch a hand line, conduct a primary search, and vent the roof. Other arriving companies were quickly put to work stretching additional hand lines and venting the structure. Firefighters worked feverishly to stop the fire that had extended into the cockloft. Both the end of the row and middle row houses received significant damage. All-hands were needed to control the fire. Firefighters finally cleared the scene around noon, the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from the 1st Battalion were alerted Friday afternoon of an apartment on fire. Crews arrived on scene to find a three story brick walk up with fire showing on sides alpha and bravo. Fire crews made an aggressive interior attack and knocked the fire down without any major extention. Tower Ladder 5's operator made 2 rescues with the bucket of Tower 5. Squad 1's search team located two infants that were left homealone by there mother in the 3rd floor apartment. Firefighters removed and gave them to awaiting EMS personel, the infants were transported to New Brickton Regional Medical Center, where they were reported D.O.A. Charges are being brought up against the mother and the fire is under investigation.
On September 24th, New Brickton Fire/Rescue’s Arson Detection Unit and New Brickton Police have made an arrest in the fatal fire that killed two infants on September 15, 2006. NBPD place Raymond Blockman of New Brickton. Blockmans’ ex-girlfriend was living in the apartment building on the first floor. Blockman broke into her apartment and spread and lit accelerant in the apartment and the common hallway. Blockman has his initial hearing on Monday and is being held in custody until his hearing.

New Brickton Firefighters from the 3rd Battalion were alerted Saturday Morning for a house fire at 903 Brighton Avenue. The first arriving unit, Squad 33, found a 2 1/2 story wood frame duplex, with heavy fire showing on the first floor on side Alpha and Bravo, and reports of entrapment. Squad 33's crew split into 2 groups, one crew began attacking the fire from side charlie. The second crew threw a ground ladder and began to search the second floor. Other arriving companies quickly went to work stretching additional lines and venting the roof. The search team from Squad 33 located a victim and extricated her via ground ladder on side bravo.
Battalion 3 requested a special call for Rescue 1 for a R.I.T. team and additional man power for searches. By this time the fire has extended into the attic area where there was heavy fire showing from the vent holes and gable windows. Firefighters knocked down the fire and spent approximately 1 1/2 hours overhauling before all companies cleared the scene.

New Brickton Firefighters were dispatched to the report of a structure fire in the 1800th block of Williamson Avenue. Upon arrival Engine Co.15 reported a one story set of stores with smoke showing. Arriving Engine Companies began to stretch hand lines and Tower Ladder 5 was sent to the roof to vent. At this time Battalion 1 arrived on scene an requested a Working Fire Dispatch(WFD) because of the size of the structure.
While the WFD units were arriving on scene there was a collapse of the side Alpha/Bravo wall, along with a portion of the roof. Rescue Co. 1 and Squad Co. 1 were placed into service and began to extricate the downed firefighters. Battalion 1 then requested a Second Alarm and the a Thrid. Bringing the total of 10 Engines, 3 Squad Engines, 4 Ladders, 1 Heavy Rescue, and numerous command units.
Firefighters battled the blaze from a defensive mode for the remander of the day, and into the early evening hours. Firefightes then entered the remander of the structure and hit hot spots and preformed extensive overhaul.

New Brickton Fire Dispatched received a call from the residence of 30 Lakewood Drive reporting smoke in their house. Firefighters arrived to find light smoke showing from a one and a half wood frame dwelling. Crews from Squad 4 using the thermal imaging camera located fire in the wall on the Charlie/Delta corner of the structure. Crews made a quick knock down and clear 45 minutes.

New Brickton Firefighters were alerted Saturday afternoon for a report of a mattress on fire at 601 Canal Street. Upon arrival crew found a two-story end of the row, row house with the second floor fully involved. Firefighters made a quick knock down and only had minor extension to the vacant house next door. As you can see from the photos there previously had been a fire at the other end of the row of houses. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

New Brickton Firefighters were alerted for a fire in the midtown section of New Brickton around noon Saturday. First arriving companies from Fire Station 5 found a three story brick apartment house with fire showing on the first floor. Before crews could extinguish the fire on the first floor it extended to the third floor via a common vent shaft. While members of Ladder 3 were extricating a victim on the third floor, the apartment flashed nearly burning Ladder 3's crew. Fire also extended to the exposure on side four of the building, which was a privately owned hardware store. After about 10 minutes later Battalion Chief 3 gave the order to evacuate and switch to a defensive operation where numerous master streams were operated. Two special calls were made for Tower Ladder 2 and Tower Ladder 5 for their aerial master streams. Fire crews spent most of Saturday afternoon hitting hot spots before clearing around 7:30PM. The victim that Ladder 3 rescue was transported to New Brickton Regional Medical Center where he is resiting in fair condition.

New Brickton Fire Crews were alerted of a fire in the cities Cherry Hill Section, Friday evening. Companies arrived on scene to find fire showing on the second floor, from an apartment/store. New Brickton Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and prevented any major extension in the close confines of the neighborhood. Crews cleared within 1 1/2 hours. The fire is under investigation and is believed to be involved in the string of arson fires that occurred in January.

New Brickton Fire Crews responded to multiple fires since the New Year has began in an Arson Streak accross the Midtown and Northeast areas of New Brickton. This fire is the latest that broke out in the early afternoon hours on January 10. Firefighters were alerted for a reported fire in a vacant structure in Engine 13 area. Crews arrived to find fire showing on side 1 from a single story, wood frame, SFD. Engine Companies quickly knocked the fire, Tower Ladder 5 had the roof and horizontal vent operations, Squad 33's crew had the search, and Rescue 1 had RIT. Fire crews cleared within one hour.

New Brickton Firefighters were dispatched to early November 19 to a fire in a two story wood frame duplex on the cities Northeast side. First arriving companies found the second floor of one of the duplex's fully involved and report of a person trapped. Engine crews made an aggressive attack while the ladder company vented and Rescue 1 performed a search. Rescue 1's crew located a male on the second floor and quickly extricated the victim. Who was transported to New Brickton Regional Medical Center. The victim later died of his injuries.
